Paani Foundation

It works to stop this cycle of drought and empower villages and farmers to create a prosperous future.

Drought has destroyed thousands of villages in Maharashtra. Paani Foundation works to stop this cycle of drought and empower villages and farmers to create a prosperous future. Currently, Paani foundation works with 50,000 farmers across 46 blocks of Maharashtra. At Paani Foundation, the belief is for transformative power of collective action. From 2016 to 2019, the foundation hosted the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup, a competition for excellence in soil and water conservation. The competition created a platform for village communities to work together in a positive and joyful way to solve the problem of drought. Over 6,000 villages from 76 blocks participated. Together, they trained in the science of decentralised watershed management and implemented it too.

Over 1 lakh villagers offered ‘shramadaan’ daily to build water harvesting structures. Government, NGOs, corporates, students, etc. got involved.

Technology isn't Just Marching on: It's Racing Ahead.
